Local muddy woods ride on the Beargrease

After two days on the road / cyclo cross bikes to get some miles in it was time for some offroad fun. Well i say fun, the trails are knee deep in clarts, it was blowing a near gale, my legs were tired but it was sunny most of the time. I had planned a longer ride but the headwind going out was sapping my tired legs so decided on a new route taking in some of the local woods around Durham City area. I havent rode some of the trails for a while and was shocked at just how bad the ground conditions were. I swapped the direction of the rear tyre after my last outing on the Beargrease to see if there was some extra traction and it has worked. The rear was not slipping about so much but the front wasnt giving much traction in the corners. Time to put the Nates on for the UK winter, i will keep the Dillingers for the Spring/Autumn & Husker Du's for the summer. Took a few more photos today as speed was not on the cards, overall it was a 16miler with 1000+ft climbing. Think it might have to be a trail run tomorrow around my local paths / woods etc.

River was very fast flowing with all the recent rain

Had to push up this climb, just too muddy

The only section with no mud through the woods

Bomb hole looking alittle slippery today

So was the downhill after the bomb hole

All the sand has washed away from the beach now

Check out the angle of tree

yep the sun was shinning

Wash time again !
