Still enjoying a few miles on the Eastway ST1.0 Steelie

I havent slung my leg over a saddle since last Friday when i had an away morning @ Hamsterley then the wifes bike was stolen from her work place, remember to keep your eye out for a Cannondale Quick CX 1 (with headshock), theres not many of them about so are easy to spot. The scum was recorded on CCTV so waiting to here back from the police but cannot see them recovering the bike some how !
Anyway managed a 17 mile quicky today on my Eastway ST1.0 - an out and back along the old line to Bishop Auckland. A quick repair job at Bishop as the mudguard bridge bolt had come loose on the rear guard, had a drink then blast back along the line.
Talking of Eastway ST1.0, when i was in Morrisons doing the shopping on Sunday I had flick through this months Cycling Active magazine as there was a review of ST1.0 2014 model so i bought a copy. To sum it up its same as the 2013 bike but a black and white colour scheme. I will agree with some of the reviwers comments - its not worth £999 thats why i paid less than £630 for mine. The original wheels may be on the heavyish side but they are strong and built to last on the UK's roads! I cannot comment on the tyres as i took them off from new and put them onto another bike that i have now sold. The brakes have more than adequate stopping power for me but i havent tested the bike out with full panniers hurtling downhill on a road, mine are not  going to be replaced. Overall its a fantastic bike, comfortable to ride and i cannot fault it.
Onwards and upwards - time to keep looking for a replacement bike for her in doors!
