Early Saturday morning road ride around the villages

I was going to go out for a road ride during the week but it didnt happen so we were up and out on the road bikes this morning for a 32miler local loop that takes in the surrounding villages of Durham City. It was only 6 degress out on the road so it was time to dig out the gillets & arm warmers. The sun didnt burn through until 5 miles from getting back home so we didnt bother stopping to take them off. We normally dont have any hassle from drivers on first 95% off our route as it is normally quiet with traffic, today was different. For some reason there seeemed to more traffic and they were driving like idiots. I nearly got ran off the road on the climb out of Coxhoe to Kelloe and had to swerve into the gutter. I could here the car coming at speed from behind so left plenty room to my left when i was going through the traffic calming island but he forced his way through with inches between my bar and his fancy white Peugot sports car. Then when we were coming into Sherburn Village through the housing estate where there was parked cars on both sides of the road with a gap in middle for the width of a car. There was an oncoming car so I let them through and just as i pulled over to ride through there was a car from behind and drove straight into the gap/side of me. I had to brake and pull over to left nearly crashing into the parked car, I could have swore at her but she was long gone by the time i got clipped back in sorted out.
Its not until we hit the back road from Low Pittington to Belmont where we get cars skimming us as its a fast road and very narrow/twisty and they cannot wait until its clear or when we get into Durham from Gilesgate direction or coming out of Durham via North Road where we get hassle but none today. It didnt spoil the ride but its frustrating why drivers cannot judge your speed and how much room to leave.
We did have one quick juice break and that was in Shadforth where there is some sort of show on and the streets are packed with scarecrow type figures etc
