Meal out at the Jolly Drovers, Leadgate

It was Angus's 16th Birthday so decided to go out for a meal to celebrate. Angus choose the Jolly Drovers just outside Leadgate. We have been several times before since the re opening of the pub and the food has been spot on. The service has been hit and miss but you cannot have everything. We normally have the evening carvery special 2 course meal deal but they have stopped evening deals but still have the lunch time deals. It was quiet compared to normal and there was plenty of empty tables but it was a Wednesday night. Everyone had the carvery but I decided to have a sirloin steak for a change for £9.95. It didn't take long and it was served, its been quite a few years since I have had a steak so was looking forward to it. As you can see in the photo below it looked lovely and was cooked spot on. My only complaint would be the actual size/thickness of the steak. Normally they would be 1/2" to 3/4" thick this was more like 1/4" thick! in my eyes it was not worth a tenner. The carvery was spot on as normal and Arran washed it down with a massive ice cream! think his eyes were bigger than his belly as he did not manage to eat it all. School hols next week and I am off work. More soon
