A warmer, drier & sunny gravel / tarmac local loop today

What a week of weather, from torrential rain all day on Wednesday with flooding to 16 degrees during the day on Thurs / Fri and overnight frost and down to 1.5 degrees.
The rain on Wednesday in Co Durham was heavy to say the least with localised flooding in several places.
Today the lines had dried up a little after yesterday heat so decided to take the Bowman Pilgrims back out again as it was still dirty from Tuesday ride. There was still plenty of big puddles and some smaller dried up puddles along the old railway lines leaving silty edges where the gravel king tyres have no grip at all and the section coming up from the Browney was muddy and clogged up the clearance on my mudguards.
So time to fit the Conti 25c 4 season tyres and use the Pilgrims as a wet winter road bike now and drag out the Litespeed with 35c tyres / mudguards with more clearance for the winter use on the lines.
As for todays ride as you can see in the photos below the sun was blazing away and very little wind. It was still cold in the shaded sections through the woods etc but a beautiful ride. Again there was not many walkers, cyclists or horse riders out so could nip along without any problems.
More soon inc NECCL CX @ Gypsies Green, South Shields tomorrow - the driest venue in the NE and forecast dry with little wind - what more could you ask for.
