Fresh Goods Sunday - Panaracer Comet Hardpack 650b / 27.5" x 2.0" tyre

I bought this tyre for the front wheel of the Cannondale Slate Apex Lefty rigid fork. I measured it and thought there would be enough clearance and there was. The tyre measurers exactly 2" / 50mm when inflated on the Mavic rim. There is still plenty mud clearance to the top and the fork blade side. The claimed weight is 540g and mine was 543g so bad on. There is also a wired version with a claimed weight of 650g.
Fitting was tight'ish but no where near as tight as the Schwalbe G One tyres. In use it offers a lot more front end comfort compared to the G One and a lot more grip off road. On the tarmac / very smooth hard compact gravel yes they are a little slower but not so much that you can notice it hugely.
In deep sticky mud the tread pattern clogs but soon clears when you get the tyre up to speed.  As for value for money well the RRP is £33, I paid £22.50 inc p&p. There was some on Ebay- sold as a pair for £39.99 inc p&p, you cannot go wrong with that for a tyre.
They are wearing well and are not showing signs of wear on the centre knobs yet but time will tell. As for punctures well, only one so far and that was near the side wall.
Oh talking of sidewalls the recommended tyre pressure is 40 - 65psi, I have found 40psi to be the very max and if doing a proper off road route you can drop the psi down to around 35ish psi.

Back end of week catch up - walk on Thursday, snowed early Friday morning causing chaos's in County Durham but it half melted through the day but a freezing cold wind. I was going to go out on the bike up the lines but they were melted and did not have a bike with full mud guards on so went for a walk instead. Yesterday after a late'ish start we went to Hexham for some shopping then I caught up with some sleep late afternoon! Today was a wash out so went to Consett for a 1 mile swim then the shopping at Morrisons.
Hopefully get back out ion the bike next week all being well.
