Fresh Goods Sunday - ULTIMATE USE Evo Seat Post

I was looking at my Cannondale Black Inc Nano the other week and apart from the groupset its nearly all new apart from the seat post. I have a 27.2mm x 300mm USE Carbon Alien which must be 20ish years old, time for a new one. Had a quick look on the USE website and noticed a new Evo model instead of the Alien & Sumo. It comes in loads of diameters and lengths. There is also two finishes to the carbon - UD Matt which is what I bought and the more traditional 3K.
USE claimed weight 108g, my scales 122g so a fair way out. The clamp does not look as neat as the alien head in my opinion. As for fitting well it takes a little while to get the clamps / shims / bolts etc all aligned up but once it all in the correct position / angle then the jobs a good'un. I cannot comment on long term or even short term use as the roads have been too dirty/salty/wet to use the bike.
RRP £130 from Wiggle, I paid £87.03 inc p&p.

Manufacturers blurb - HERE
The Evo 91 is the newest innovation from USE. It is our lightest ever seat post and has been engineered alongside top athletes to create an inline post that can be used by professionals and amateurs alike. It has evolved from our SX post using the newest computer design techniques to remove any material not adding strength. This leads to a super light but reliable post.
THE ULTIMATE USE EVO is our lightest seat post, being inline it ensures that geometry is not compromised and is available in 3K Matt Carbon or Stealth Matt UD Carbon for both Road racers and XC racers.

  1. It may be 122g not 108 but at 122g you won't find another seatposr as light and strong as this i have this and 197g 440cc USE summit carbon handlebars both brilliant both saved huge weight over standard kit

  2. And both weighed on engineering calibrated scales
